Every parent has a different way of raising their child, and for seven-time Mr. Olympia winner Arnold Schwarzenegger, it was pretty unique. The 76-year-old bodybuilder, who recently starred in Netflix’s Fubar as well as his documentary series, has previously spoken about his way of parenting his children. Speaking with People magazine about his new motivational book Be Useful: Seven Tools for Life, which will go on sale on October 10, he gave more insights into the funny stories of his strict parenting.

The Austrian Oak spoke about the different memories he has of his children getting unique punishments from him and elaborately talked about each of them. He started by talking about his eldest daughter Katherine, who is 33 and a mother of two children herself who uses his methods of parenting on her own kids now. 

Arnold Schwarzenegger had burned his daughter’s shoes

While speaking about how he raised his children, the 76-year-old bodybuilding champion and actor disclosed the different methods he used for each of his children. He started by talking about his eldest daughter, Catherine. 

Arnold spoke about how his daughter comes home to visit with her three-year-old daughter, Lyla, and told her about putting her shoes in the proper place. After that, she also scolded the little one by giving an example of her childhood, where if Kathrine had not put the shoes in the proper place, and kept them near the fireplace, her father would not have been so kind to the shoes.

Arnie said, “The first one is Katherine … As a matter of fact, Katherine comes over with (her 3-year-old daughter) Lyla and she says, ‘Lyla, I told you already not to put the shoes there. Keep your shoes on or you put them away, but you don’t leave them there by the stand in front of the fireplace because you know what Daddy did? When I left my shoes there twice? The third time, he burned them in front of me and I cried.'” He also added, “Now uses the same methods which she cried over and that she complained about.”

So at the end of the day, strict parenting helped all the children become who they are today and they have a very wholesome relationship with their father even now. Arnold also had a very interesting story about his son Patrick, and how he taught his little one a lesson. 

Patrick Schwarzenegger got the coldest shower of his life

In the same interview with People, the Terminator actor and former governor of California shared another incident about his son, Patrick. When Schwarzenegger Junior was nine years old, he did not listen to his father and did not clean up after himself, so his father threw his mattress out of the window after incessantly telling him to clean his room.

Another incident that made Patrick scream was when he would not listen to his father and wasted warm water while bathing. Arnold had the perfect solution for this. He had started keeping a timer for the showers with the hot water. When the hot water stopped after a while, Patrick Schwarzenegger was in for a surprise.

Even after these punishments while growing up, all the children have a very wholesome relationship with their father. Patrick Schwarzenegger, who is an actor, and also the co-owner of the fitness brand Mosh PBC with his mother Maria Shriver, shared a wholesome picture with his father on Independence Day.

Patrick has always been open about his love and admiration for his father through Instagram stories and public appearances. The eldest son of the Predator actor has always tried to fit in his father’s shoes with his hard work, and all the children of the bodybuilder make him proud every day.
