In the recent edition of his daily newsletter, Arnold’s Pump Club, the former athlete elucidated the concerning misbeliefs around the effects of canola oil. This aspect was particularly important to clarify since he now lives a 70% vegan lifestyle, as a result of his personal health and social concerns.

He pointed out that nutrition is always looking for a bad guy to put their blame on, however, it is necessary to check the authenticity of these discussions. Therefore, he stated facts about the vegetable oil and provided a perceptive conclusion.

Arnold Schwarzenegger busts Canola Oil fallacy

As per the source, the 75-year-old legend claimed that seed oils are the new carbs. Yet, when needed to put blames for several health issues, certain nutrition sources are targetted. Hence, he wrote, “Nutrition is notorious for finding a “villain” and associating blame for many health issues.” However, the athlete urged his followers to inspect the validity of such beliefs, seeing if it’s “just smoke or fire.”

The Austrian Oak shared that many people fear Canola oil and other seed oils for a range of reasons. A major misread aspect is that since canola is not found naturally on Earth, and also contains a high amount of omega-6-fatty acids, it is thought of as unhealthy, per the newsletter.

Furthermore, he clarifies that there is a probability that natural elements can be “poisonous or dangerous”, similarly, even man-made compounds can be healthy or not. But the real solution doesn’t come out unless a person tries out different sources of nutrition to check if their body responds well to them. Researches prove that canola oil actually helps lower harmful LDL cholesterol and improve insulin sensitivity. It also helps manage blood sugar and boost protective HDL. The potential benefits of plant-based food are a primary reason why the icon switched to being vegan. 

Arnold Schwarzenegger is now a vegan 

Talking to the chef, Jose Andres in their joint podcast venture of Long Tables and Arnold’s Stammtisch, the champion recently revealed that he changed his entire diet regimen at 75. He shared that, with age, his body was unable to keep up with the heavy nutritional sources he utilized in his prime days. Even his doctors asserted him to be mindful of his foods and minimize meat consumption.

However, the realization struck him after he was appointed as the Governor of California. Taking on environmental issues, the athlete found out that livestock, poultry, and the massive meat consumptions actually cause a lot of pollution too. Therefore, he now prioritizes a plant-based diet only, and relishes meat dishes only on occasions.
