After Ritchson’s revelation, the host Rosenbaum, asked him about the challenges of carrying the weight needed for his role as Reacher. In response to this Ritchson admitted, “It’s hard on the heart. There is a couple of things I start to feel. It’s the lung capacity, I feel I can’t keep upif I’m climbing up a hill it’s a little bit like doing lunges for 20 minutes straight….I feel like when I’m running I start to feel my muscles aching just because it’s like it’s just I’m pushing a lot of weight one step at a time. So it’s tough.” Ritchson explained that running and doing high-impact stuff at this weight is hard. He advocates that each person must make tailored adjustments based on their unique circumstances and physical demands.

This resonated with Ritchson’s comments made in an Instagram post in 2022. Sharing his photo, he wrote, “Move something that fatigues your body and heart most days of the week.” He also suggested how body weight exercises like push-ups, pull-ups, and dips can add size if gym equipment isn’t available to use. In order to prepare for his role working out hard in the gym wasn’t the only thing he had to do. This also included a boisterous diet. According to reports he would consume around 4,500 calories daily, including 300 grams of protein. This also meant he consumed whole food sources such as rice, chicken, eggs, turkey, fish, vegetables, and smoothies.

After the success of the Reacher series on Amazon Prime, the actor has been vocal about his transformation. During an interview, he revealed that his testosterone levels decreased, and that raised speculation with Kenny KO questioning his “natty” status.
