

Retired Strongman legend and strength sports athlete Brian Shaw is renowned for his insane willpower and superhuman strength. He has tried his luck in various sports like arm wrestling, powerlifting, strongman, etc. Shaw, in his prime, took his body weight all the way up to 470 lbs at one point, which helped him and improved his lifts even more. Quite recently, he has announced his willingness to participate in the realm of MMA as well.

While Shaw is a quick learner, he believes that this opportunity will be completely different from what he generally does. He openly confessed the involvement of a contract in his latest venture while explaining that this new opportunity might prove helpful by providing him a reason to drop some weight and change his training.

Brian Shaw explains the reasons behind stepping into the MMA world
Shaw’s surprise announcement that he would be retiring in a previous YouTube video shocked the strength sports community. “I only feel like it is fitting for me to do my final strongman competition at the Shaw Classic at the event that I created to give back to this sport,” Shaw said. A while later, he announced that he’d participate in MMA now.

Explaining the reason behind this, he stated in his latest video, “I started thinking about what would I gain from doing this, and I did want to drop weight. So, I was going to change on my training anyway. This is something that will force me to do that.”

Shaw disclosed a will to learn MMA
A person like Shaw, who has achieved almost everything that the sport of strongman has to offer, tends to search for other things to get their hands on. Shaw, who has been physically active since childhood, claims that he is constantly looking to learn new things and skills.

Talking along the same lines, he said, “I also now get to go and take lessons and learn new things, which is very mentally stimulating for me. I have always loved the challenge of having to do that. And so that was a big part of it.”
