10-Year-Old Little Girl Performs an Unbelievable Feat, Lifts 212% of Her Body Weight to Win Gold at the US Weightlifting Championship

10-year-old Rory Van Ulft’s Olympic weightlifting journey has only been on the upswing. Unlike most other bodybuilding athletes, Van Ulft did not start as a weightlifter. She began this sport as additional training to increase her strength for gymnastics. But after starting her journey, she is lifting marvelous numbers in the gym as the audience watches in awe.

Rory has again made history by lifting weights nearly twice her body weight and taking another winning bow.

An Instagram video on Ulft’s official account showcases the 10-year-old calmingly walking on stage, holding the 158-pound weight and lifting it with all her might. If there was a child superhero, it would be her because she won the competition and took home a gold medal. The competition’s specifics were stated in the caption, which read: “This 72-kg (158-lb) lift at #usaweightlifting National Championships Week was over 212% body weight & just 1 kg below the heaviest #cleanandjerk EVER by a 40-kg weightlifter… (and 5-kg ABOVE the gold medal-winning lift at this year’s IWF Youth World Championships…). Age: 10 years, 140 days. Body weight: 33.95 kg”

She also thanked coach Spencer Moorman, whom she high-fived in the end, and the wholesome moment just made the video even better. Rory participated in other competitions before she turned 10. Her Variety Village Open is another golden moment in her journey as a weightlifter.

Van Ulft is the youngest weightlifter to clean and jerk

The Canadian resident competed in the Variety Village Open right before turning ten. Her challenge-related Instagram post said: “Aged only 9 years, 350 days, weightlifter and gymnast Rory Van Ulft just became the youngest PERSON (man or woman) in history ever to clean & jerk double body weight in competition.”

At the time of the lift, the weightlifting prodigy weighed 32.8 kg (72.4 lb). With 145.5 lbs of weight, the Ontario native executed a clean and jerk. Now, she has increased her bar and lifted 77kg! What do you think of this incredible and youngest weightlifter? Tell us in the comments!
