Everyone in the bodybuilding world knows the tale of Ronnie Coleman’s hardship and struggle. The 26 IFBB pro title holder’s journey towards becoming Mr. Olympia started after a free membership to the gym kick-started his career. An ex-cop, the 8x Mr. Olympia winner, is known for his usually humble nature.

However, at the 2001 Mr. Olympia Press Conference, fans saw a different side of the bodybuilding legend. Engaged in a heated press conference with fellow legends, Jay Cutler, Kevin Levrone, and Shawn Ray in attendance, Coleman fired numerous verbal shots at his competitors.

In what is touted as one of the most heated press conferences in Mr. Olympia’s history, Coleman crushes his competition in the press conference itself. After listening to Shawn Ray question the judges of the event, Coleman went on a tirade, accusing them of bringing it up because he was winning the event.

“Just because I am Mr. Olympia and I have won three times in a row, there seems to be something wrong with the judges. How come there can’t be something wrong with y’all’s bodies,” Coleman retorted. The legend also ridiculed Kevin Levrone, saying he had won three Mr. Olympias while Levrone had none.

The King had broken screws in his back

With his immense focus on bodybuilding, Coleman often missed out on much-needed rest. The bodybuilder has undergone multiple surgeries to ease the pain in his back that has haunted him for years. He also had to go through surgeries in 2018 and 2019 to treat broken screws in the back. However, the surgeries took a toll on him, rendering him unable to walk without support. Currently, Coleman uses a wheelchair or a walking stick for carrying out his day-to-day activities.
