2019 Champion Brandon Curry’s Mr. Olympia 2023 Participation in Doubt at the Last Minute

Mr. Olympia is known for its surprises. However, the 2023 event has been giving its fans one shock after the other. Right after the back-to-back visa rejections for some bodybuilders and Nick Walker’s exit from the event, it seems like another horror might have struck fans only minutes before Mr. Olympia’s official commencement. As fans and other bodybuilding critics and experts are still trying to find a way to balance their predictions, there has been a revelation about the chances of another bodybuilding star missing out of the contest.

Brandon Curry, the 41-year-old bodybuilder who won the title of 2019 Mr. Olympia was getting cheered on so that he could get back his title this year. However, a certain turn of events has disappointed both him and his fans.

A few moments before the commencement of a press conference, it was announced that the 2019 Mr. Olympia, Brandon Curry was hospitalized due to an illness not revealed to the public yet. However, it has since been revealed that the bodybuilder’s absence from the event has not been confirmed yet.

According to BarBend, Curry is still scheduled to compete at the event, however, he will only go ahead after gaining approval from his doctors.  If Brandon Curry is out of the race, his rivals might find the situation becoming a bit less intense. But even so, they cannot stop from praying for the speedy recovery of the bodybuilding icon. Everyone is looking to hear about the reason that has sent Curry to the hospital. On the other hand, according to fitness journalist Ron Harris, Curry’s absence will bring the number of competitors in the Open division to 17.

In case Curry misses out on his chance to lift the Sandow trophy, his family would also lament the former champion’s lost opportunity. On the other side, Brandon Curry is not the only fitness and athletic superstar in his household. His 13-year-old son does give him enough competition in the field. As his son makes him proud, Curry had earlier shown off his son’s achievements.

Maximus Curry’s support system: Brandon Curry

In one of his Instagram posts right before Mr. Olympia, Brandon Curry featured a clip of his son Maximus. The boy of 13 is linebacker or running back of the Blackman Youth Football team. As he makes an impactful appearance on the field, his proud father cannot help but appreciate him publicly. He wrote in the caption, “I see you 6!!! Way to play like a CHAMP @maximuscurry. Like the saying goes, big-time players make big-time plays! You’ve always been good for that!”
