Bodybuilding and strength training requires a solid nutritional foundation to support muscle growth, repair, and overall performance. Among the plethora of food choices, eggs stand out as a powerhouse of nutrients and have become a staple in the diets of many successful bodybuilders. Bodybuilding legends like Arnold Schwarzenegger, Ronnie Coleman, and Dorian Yates have often talked about the importance of eggs in their diet mentioning the high protein content as well as the factor that they are affordable as well.

Legendary bodybuilders have consistently recognized the importance of eggs in their diet. Eggs have provided them with a convenient, cost-effective, and nutrient-dense source of protein, essential amino acids, etc. for muscle recovery and overall performance. On the contrary, IFBB Pro Greg Doucette recently posted a video on his YouTube channel titled ‘Eggs Are The Worst Food In The World.’

Does Greg really believe eggs to be the worst food in the world?

Doucette, who previously made a video explaining how Hugh Jackman’s 8000-calorie diet was a scam, recently posted another YouTube video on his channel in which he talked about eggs. The video was based on a fellow YouTuber Noel Deyzel’s video that he posted talking about the nutritional effects of eggs. Greg started by explaining that decades ago from now, it was believed that consuming too many eggs can lead to high cholesterol which is harmful to one’s health. “They warned you…don’t eat too many eggs,” he said. Explaining further, Doucette pointed out that it’s not the eggs that are harmful, it’s the number of eggs or the way the eggs are cooked that shall be taken care of. “If you’re already eating a high-fat diet…adding in more whole eggs, that’s going to make your diet even higher in fat and cholesterol,” said Greg.

“But to say that eating whole eggs is dangerous, that it’s inherently bad that you could never consume them, well obviously, that is going too far,” said Doucette. He also pointed out that it’s the other lifestyle choices or other food items that you pair eggs with, like bacon and excessive butter, that lead to bad cholesterol or an increase in body fat.

Providing another solution, Greg emphasized eating fewer whole eggs and consuming egg whites as a substitute, as they have low calories and almost no fats. Doucette also pointed out that any food, if eaten in moderation, can be fitted into a diet. “Replace the word egg with any food in the world…it can be part of a healthy diet if eaten in moderation, just don’t go too far.”

Greg Doucette has been promoting the need for flexible dieting for a while now. He is a firm believer that, if not competing professionally, one can very well enjoy all that is available in the snacks aisle at the grocery store. Doucette has often mentioned that the need to drop fat and diet beyond necessary is a habit that is very common among teen lifters these days due to body dysmorphia. Talking along the same lines, Doucette pointed out a certain fitness influencer who is suffering from body dysmorphia, according to Greg.

Who is the fitness influencer in question?

Doucette recently posted a video on social media pointing to fitness influencer Alex Eubank who appears to have a low body fat percentage. According to the IFBB Pro, many bodybuilders have a low-fat percentage during their preps, but maintaining a low body fat percentage year around can be unhealthy and have negative alterations on the body. The 47-year-old athlete exclaimed, “Stop trying to maintain a single-digit body fat…Stop this. Stop the insanity.”

Greg stated, “The higher you climb the mountain, the harder it gets thinner air. But what Alex is doing is he hanging three courses the way up the mountain and hanging out there for life.” His point of concern here is that the young athlete is attempting to maintain his peak physique at all times, running on a very low-fat composition.

So, Doucette came up with a more straightforward solution. “You will never be satisfied. So, my advice, be happy right now.” Being involved in professional bodybuilding as well as in general fitness for decades now, Doucette has a lot of experience and knowledge to rely on. Holding a master’s degree in kinesiology and having years of knowledge as a personal coach, Greg Doucette shares his wisdom with his fans using his social media. What do you think about Doucette’s opinion of eggs and maintaining a low body fat percentage? Do let us know in the comments.
