Bodybuilder turned actor, Arnold Schwarzenegger has weaved several close-knitted bonds with his co-athletes, stars, and more. Therefore, shedding light on the same, in a recent interview with Graham Bensinger on his YouTube channel, the IFBB pro featured his four-decades-old co-actor and buddy, Dolph Lundgren. That’s not all, he got candid and even revealed a grand fact about their friendship journey.

Kickstarting their friendship in the 1980s, the former martial artist’s insane skills left Schwarzenegger dumbfounded once. However, recently, the latter expressed his concern for Lundgren not remembering their 40th friendship anniversary.

The interview surfaced on Wednesday, displaying the two icons visiting the famed outdoor Gold’s Gym. The duo chatted about a plethora of topics as they went about a few workouts. Moments later, the 75-year-old legend suddenly remembered that this month is their friendship’s 40th anniversary. “we met in 1983, now it’s 2023. Think about that,” he chimed in.

Lundgren promptly agreed to his realization. However, Schwarzenegger satirically slammed the Swedish actor for not celebrating the special occasion with him. The pro athlete said, “we’ve been training for 40 years, so you don’t even think about these kinds of very special moments. You didn’t even send me a 40th-anniversary cake, no flowers, not even a note..no nothing”

Therefore, the 6’5” action star jokingly replied, “It’s coming later, I’m worried about your abs.” Disappointed by his lack of interest in their anniversary, the bodybuilding ace let out, You’ve hurt the feelings.” He listed out the gestures he had expected from his counterpart, like, cake, flowers, or just a simple note of acknowledgment. Regardless, this was just a glimpse of their long friendship. Similarly, on The Austrian Oak’s birthday 3 years ago, Lundgren once shared an elaborate heartfelt note for his buddy, iterating a hilarious incident.

Taking to his Instagram, the 65-year-old actor shared an interesting instance from their camaraderie. On Schwarzenegger’s birthday, the actor revealed that he met the star before they stumbled into the film industry. After meeting on the sets of the movie, Conan The Destroyer in 1983, the duo next faced each other while Lundgren was training for Rocky IV.

After getting home tired one day, while his then-partner, Grace Jones threw a party at their house, he heard a loud knock on his door at midnight. “Who the hell is it?” he yelled at the door. The response from the other side was a funny one. It said, “It’s your trainer! I’m here to check your abs!” Puzzled, he opened the door and found Schwarzenegger grinning at him while smoking a fat Cuban cigar.
