A viral video of two fighters sparring with each other has become a scourge of criticism on the internet. The reason for such a backlash is the deviation of the fighters from a well-defined rule of sparring. One of the most important aspects of boxing training, sparring, teaches fighters nuances beyond the threshold of punching and defense.
It imbibes in them a sense of discipline, self-control, and the ability to remain within the boundaries of rules drawn. These rules are laid to have an effective training session that does not cause any injuries to the fighters. But when such rules are transgressed, it calls for a serious check. Coming in for this purpose is the vocal boxing community.

Boxing World Schools Sparring Partners
Sparring is one opportunity newbies get to test their boxing acumen against the prowess of well-established fighters. While an unsaid rule of such sessions is to follow the pattern of ‘light boxing’, the reality is that some sessions end up with the fighters going all out with their strengths. Yet, there remains one threshold that they abide by. They do not knock out their sparring partner. The logic for this understanding is that sparring is to season their boxing skills and not dominate the other side.
Boxing insider portal, Boxing Kingdom recently posted a video of two fighters sparring with each other. It features one of them taking down their partner through a lethal knockout in the end, a clear transgression from sparring rules.
The internet was quick to call out this fallacy and further school the fighter, who went ahead with his knockout jab. One user expressed their nervousness around the idea of sparring itself. They also recognized how fighters in such sessions enter the ring without proper safety gear.
Always makes me a bit nervous to see sparring like this with no head gear for that reason. Nothing to gain from this.

Another user refused to even acknowledge the session in question as a spar.
this isnt sparring

A fan came in with some clarifications. They cleared the air that it was not a sparring contest but a tryout for a promotion opportunity, hence the lack of headgear.
This not a sparring it was tryouts for a promotion opportunity, hence the no headgear

Furthermore, a user compared the session to the behavior shown by two drunk men.
Sparring? These two have been pulled out of the pub after 12 pints (each) of lager

Finally, a fan went to the extent of even not seeing the two fighters as boxers.
That’s not sparring and it sure as hell isn’t two boxers

The rules and guidelines not only promote skill development but also further prioritize the safety of participants. These regulations encompass the use of protective gear, controlled intensity, and supervision by experienced trainers.
