Billy Joe Saunders Heading to India Before His Fight With Canelo Alvarez

WBO super middleweight champion, Billy Joe Saunders, is planning a trip to India, prior to his upcoming title unification clash against WBC and WBA 168 lbs champion, Canelo Alvarez.
Following Alvarez’s win over Avni Yildirim, Matchroom director, Eddie Hearn, has confirmed the bout on May 8. That said, we are just two months away from the blockbuster clash and ‘Superb’ Saunders opened up on his upcoming trip to the sub-continent for his training camp.
In an interaction with iFL TV, ‘Super’ Billy Joe Saunders said, “We are off to India tomorrow, yeah, India tomorrow. Finishing the reaming time out in India. We have got a good location out there, we have got friends out there and family.”

He further talked about his relationship with India and revealed having his roots in the Asian country.
‘Superb’ Saunders added, “Obviously that’s where the Gypsies were. We are originally from India, years and years, many, many months ago. I have got ancestors out there, I have got a few guests out there. We are going to be camping and we are going to be doing this yard, right.”
However, all these preparations can still see him fall short in front of a mighty Canelo Alvarez. The P4P King has been active in the past few months and will be a massive threat to Saunders’ undefeated run as a professional.

Aged 31, Saunders is 30-0 in professional boxing. But, he hasn’t faced anyone of Alvarez’s status. Meanwhile, Canelo has run across four-different weight classes and has donned championships in all of them.

But, at 168 lbs, he might have his toughest test against Saunders in what is expected to be a boxing delight. While Saunders will put his WBO belt on the line alongside his undefeated record, Alvarez’s dominance and legacy will also be at stake.
