Tyson Fury put on the performance of his life against Deontay Wilder last month. In what was his maiden world title defense, ‘The Gypsy King’ maintained his unbeaten streak and handed ‘The Bronze Bomber’ his second consecutive defeat. After such an impressive performance, the only thing everyone wanted to know about Fury’s stint was, whom will he face next?
For now, Dillian Whyte is next for Tyson Fury. As Whyte holds the WBC interim heavyweight strap, he has been eager to get his hands on the shot for the gold.
Recently, Fury’s US promoter, Bob Arum, spoke to Boxing Scene on the same. He said, “We’re gonna sit down with [Whyte’s] people and see if we can work out a deal.” (h/t Michael Benson)

Whyte was supposed to face Otto Wallin for his WBC interim title defense. However, as ‘The Body Snatcher’ injured himself, he pulled out of this contest. Since then, the only fight he’s looked at is a 12-round slugfest against his compatriot, Tyson Fury.

Fury himself is in search of a mandatory contender and no one else apart from Whyte seems to be his next challenge. ‘The Gypsy King’s promoter also has his sight set on the undisputed fight against Oleksandr Usyk. However, as ‘The Cat’ will have to fight Anthony Joshua, Fury may have to battle Dillian Whyte.
Hence, the heavyweight scenario only looks intriguing.
