It takes a boxer years to get to a level where each of his fights makes him millions of dollars! But not Francis Ngannou! According to a recent development, the Cameroonian heavyweight is set to make millions yet again. Last year, the former UFC heavyweight champion nearly caused an upset against Tyson Fury in Saudi Arabia, and now he is geared for Anthony Joshua on March 3.

Initially, the date was set for Joshua to take on heavyweight counterpart Deontay Wilder, but Wilder lost his fight against Joseph Parker and his chances of fighting Joshua. So, ‘The Predator’ took Wilder’s place and now stands to make millions from the purse alone. Earlier today, Boxing Kingdom revealed some chatter that plagued the boxing world about the Ngannou vs. Joshua fight purse, uncovering a whopping $70 million combined payday on X.

Days after the fight between Ngannou and Joshua was announced publicly, Boxing Kingdom took it upon itself to shed light on the rumors about the Joshua vs. Ngannou fight purse. In a tweet earlier today, they wrote, “Reports circulating on Anthony Joshua vs Francis Ngannou purses.” Followed by the actual rumored numbers the fighters are supposed to take home.

“Anthony Joshua: $50M, Ngannou: $20M,” Boxing Kingdom wrote. It’s worth mentioning that these are the rumored numbers, and it doesn’t include the earnings that would come in from other sources. For instance, pay-per-view sales,  gate revenue, and others. In comparison, here’s how much Ngannou and Fury made in their ‘Battle of the Baddest’ fight last year.

The UFC, where Ngannou made a name for himself, is notorious for underpaying their fighters, which resulted in Ngannou jumping ships. ‘The Predator’ even said so himself for making the switchover, but the question remains – how much did he make in the fight against heavyweight sensation Tyson Fury? Before the fight, ‘The Gypsy King’ had revealed the fight purse for Francis Ngannou!

He suggested Ngannou would make a minimum of $10 million from the fight, not including all the sponsorship deals and pay-per-view sales. This means that in the fight against Joshua, the former UFC champion is doubling the amount. What’s more, Fury himself had taken home $50 million from the fight, the same as Joshua would, according to rumors addressed by the Boxing Kingdom.

As the fight night inches closer with each passing day, the revelation from Boxing Kingdom would only create more buzz about the fight. However, the big question is – what if Ngannou beats Joshua? Would that make him a bigger draw in heavyweight? Would Fury give him a rematch?

One take at a time

The first time boxing captured my attention, it was because of a line I heard in the film 'Rocky Balboa', a film surrounding boxing. The line went like this, "But it ain't about how hard ya hit. It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward.
