Brexit level opponent for Canelo here. His opponents have been a shambles since moving to DAZN:
Ryder
40+ old GGG (5 years too late)
Yildrim
Smith
40+ old Kovalev
Danny Jacobs?😂
Rocky Fielding? 😂This guy was p4p number 1 when they picked him up😭

As a Brit I’m saddened we have offered a lamb to the slaughter like this. Ryder isn’t of the level, Canelo should have thought better.
— Jason (@Scribblemilk) February 11, 2023
A lot of fans felt that Ryder was not a good enough opponent for Alvarez. Moreover, user @DMansoor98 even went on to call him a ‘Brexit Level Opponent’.
Imagine fighting Canelo, in Mexico, on Cinco de mayo weekend. I wouldn’t bet on John Ryder if I was offered 10,000/1 odds. Utterly pointless fight.

Similarly, a lot of fans mentioned that the fight was straight-up pointless.
