Caleb Plant Claps Back at Jose Benavidez SR. for Fundraiser Remarks on Viral Gym Video

Caleb Plant will face David Benavidez in a well-anticipated super-middleweight bout on March 25th. This fight is one of the most hyped fights in the sport as it will give the boxing world its next challenger for the undisputed super-middleweight title. But, ahead of this fight, Plant seems to have encountered a hiccup in the form of an issue related to his current gym.

Recently, a video of Plant barging inside the gym to get his fight banners while the gym owner calls him out is going viral. The American boxer, Plant seemed to get into an altercation with the gym owner, and this issue is drawing attention from boxing fans worldwide.

Jose Benavidez Sr, the father of Plant’s next opponent David Benavidez, recently shared Plant’s video on his social media. And Plant responded to this video going viral on the internet.

Caleb Plant responds to Benavidez Sr

Elie Seckbach, from ESNews, reshared the video posted by Jose Benavidez Sr and caught the attention of the ‘Sweethands’ himself. Plant explained the whole situation through numerous comments on Seckbach’s Instagram and Seckbach posted a video about the same.

Plant wrote, “Wanted me to pay his rent for his gym for a second time. And I offered for us to throw in 500 dollars. That wasn’t good enough, so I wanted to take my banners and leave.” He further discussed that how he signs a check at the end of his camp and pays his camp dues in a couple of thousand dollars. He further added that he won’t pay for someone else’s rent.

Jose Benavidez Sr is worried

In the whole situation, it seems weird that the owner of the city’s athletic gym is asking Plant to pay for his rent. In an interview with  ESNEWS, Jose Benavidez Sr discussed why he shared the video of Plant. He said he worries that Plant will withdraw from the fight due to the issue. He further said that the gym owner should contact him as he is willing to pay the remaining dues of Plant.

Benavidez Sr further added that he also advised Plant that they could start a fundraiser for the Plant so that he can pay the dues to the gym owner. But, it seems like Benavidez Sr may have a false impression of what happened As Plant was asked to pay the gym’s rent after paying the camp dues. Plant is training hard for his fight against the ‘Mexican Monster’, and shared a glimpse with the fans of his training routine.
