Caleb Plant Slams David Benavidez and His Team for Negotiating a Next While Overlooking David Lemieux

The former IBF super-middleweight champion Caleb Plant and the undefeated super middleweight David Benavidez are in terms of exchanging cutting remarks. The verbal beef between the pair is heating since boxing speculators reported the duo is in talks for their fight.

In the process of word war, the Tennessee boxer took to Twitter and slammed his arch-rival Benavidez for negotiating with him ahead of the latter’s confirmed showdown on 21st May 2022 against David Lemieux.

Taking a dig at ‘The Red Flag’, he wrote, “So while in camp for one fight his team is already negotiating for the next one?”

For the uninitiated, the 29-year-old is coming out of a knockout loss against the undisputed super-middleweight champion, Canelo Alvarez.

Interestingly, the rival opponent for Plant, Benavidez, was keen to fight the p4p king earlier.

What is the rivalry between Caleb Plant and David Benavidez?

The pugilist of the same weight class seems to have an old grudge against each other. In 2018, both fighters were on the verge of throwing fists, but could not mark it.

However, once again, the verbal beef between the duo is in an intense phase. ‘Sweethands’ branded the youngest super middleweight champion as ‘Fatboy’.

He wrote, “Fatboy can’t f**k with me.”

In an interview with ESPN, the 25-year-old has said, “He’s probably the fakest dude I’ve ever met. He’ll look at you in the face and say some good things about you, be respectful. But as soon as he turns his back, they’ll give him an interview and he becomes super disrespectful.”

Further, Benavidez added what will happen when he will face Plant. He said, “So that’s kind of what it is. … Obviously, he thinks he’s the best, so none of that animosity is going away until we get to see each other in the ring. And I guarantee when I see him, it’s going to be ugly.”

Interestingly, if the duo will clash, it is going to be a spectacular event as David Benavidez is an offensive power puncher whereas Caleb Plant is a quick and technically defensive fighter.
