Canelo Alvarez Blasts Floyd Mayweather for “A Really Boring Fight”

The rivalry between the best athletes is interesting at any point in time. This is why, whenever Canelo Alvarez and Floyd Mayweather talk about their 2013 clash, it becomes a storyline. Recently, the former Pound-for-pound best made a very bold statement recalling his highly anticipated bout against the former five-weight division champ, which gave him the first loss of his career.
After coming so far from his first defeat, Canelo could not forget what he felt that night. Speaking to actor Eugenio Derbez, the undisputed super-middleweight champ reflected on it.

“I didn’t take it as a loss. Afterward, I took it as an apprenticeship. I still didn’t have the experience to fight in those scenarios. It was a really boring fight” against “the best fighter in the world.”
Canelo continued, “It hurt a lot that night. But the next day, I told myself that this would not take anything away from my goal of being the best. In boxing, I’m the second Mexican in history who managed to become the best pound for pound.”
Notably, when Canelo faced Mayweather he was very young. Lack of experience was quite visible throughout the fight. However, on the judge’s scorecard, the Mexican superstar gave a very competitive fight.
Mayweather’s defense played a vital role in the contest. It neutralized Canelo’s wild swings.
The upcoming match of Canelo Alvarez
The four-weight division champ is all set to defend his undisputed title against his middleweight rival Gennady Golovkin. The duo is all set to meet for the third time on September 17 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
GGG was demanding this fight for years because he was not satisfied with the verdict of the last two collisions. The first fight ended on a controversial note. This gave way to the second clash a year later.
