In the sport of boxing, we have seen many fighters trash talk with each other for various reasons including selling the fight or having some bad blood. However, it looks like this extends beyond the fighters as promoters also get into verbal spats before fights, especially the ones where the stakes are the highest.
This is undoubtedly the case with promoters Oscar De La Hoya and Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe who have recently got into a feud ahead of Ryan Garcia vs Gervonta Davis. This fight will be the biggest to promote for ‘Golden Boy’ who had claimed that the bout was made due to his involvement. However, it seems that Ellerbe disagrees with De La Hoya as he took to Twitter and sounded off on the former champion.

Leonard Ellerbe calls out Oscar De La Hoya
In a Tweet, the Mayweather Promotions CEO claimed that he was the one who had sent the offer for De La Hoya’s promotion. Moreover, he added that he even communicated with one of the ‘Golden Boy’ employees. He then blasted the former champion and told him that he had no idea about the workings of his own promotion.

The Mayweather promotions CEO did not mince his words when it came to speaking about his rival promoter. However, with the negotiations of these fights often taking place behind closed doors, it is hard to pinpoint whether Ellerbe’s statement has truth to it or not. Despite this, for fans, it is good to see promoters revealing some information about negotiations online.
Leonard Ellerbe makes a bold prediction for Ryan Garcia vs Gervonta Davis
