“Charity Is Just Not…”: Muhammad Ali’s Daughter Laila Ali Talks About the Other Side of Charity

Muhammad Ali was more than just a boxer. He is not only remembered for his charismatic performances inside the ring. But also for the impact, he had on society as a fellow human being. From the initial years of his professional career to his very last day, Muhammad Ali raised awareness about numerous humanitarian issues. Ali ran charities to help those in need. He donated his fight earnings to charity; he organized fundraising fights to help the underprivileged. Muhammad Ali was exceptional, and his children are continuing what he started. His daughter Rasheeda Ali is a strong advocate of charity and helping the ones in need.

Recently, Rasheda Ali brought attention to the overlooked side of charity and how one can be charitable even if they don’t have money.

Rasheda Ali addressed the audience at a recent event to remember Malcolm X’s and Muhammad Ali’s legacies.

The daughter of the great Muhammad Ali went on to talk about how you could be charitable in your normal day-to-day activities without doling out huge sums of money.

She said, “Say something nice to someone today. That’s the act of charity.”.

Rasheda echoed the importance of being nice to others; money is not the only thing you need to be charitable. She believes that how you treat others is more important than the amount of money you donate to charity. Rasheda said that the ‘words that come out of your mouth’ have power, and it has the ability to uplift the mood of people who are going through tough times.

She added, “Charity is not just money; it’s the words that come out of your mouth.”

Rasheda Ali is an author, actress, speaker, and a humanitarian. She is trying to keep her father’s legacy alive by following in his footsteps. Unlike her sister, Laila Ali, Rasheda did not choose boxing as a career.

Muhammad Ali always believed in charity. He was an advocate for numerous humanitarian issues. So much so, Muhammad Ali was selected to be the United Nations’ messenger of peace in 1998.

Ali once said, “Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth.” There is a reason Muhammad Ali is one of the most incredible boxers and a beautiful human to walk on earth.
