Ahead of his clash, Dr. Mike stated, “I’m not doing this to gain some popularity. I’m not making a buck because I’m donating my entire fighter pay to the Harlem Boys & Girls Club. It’s strictly because I love this. I wanted to challenge myself. I wanted to live to the top of my potential.”

Dr. Mike’s journey in boxing began almost a decade ago when he lost his mother tragically to leukemia. Devastated by the loss, he turned to boxing for refuge and hasn’t looked back since.
