It’s never easy to step inside the boxing ring. Add the fact that a fighter is 54 and will lace up his gloves to take on another legend only showcases the magnitude of the challenge and the strength of his resolve. The same can be said about 51-year-old Roy Jones Jr who will take on one of boxing’s greatest KO artists, Mike Tyson.
While the bout is just around the corner, the journey hasn’t been an easy one for both the boxers. In conversation with the media during the final weigh-ins, Tyson opened up about the disastrous beginning to his training camp in preparation for the bout.
Tyson said, “Well, the first thing was disastrous. During that session of boxing when I was getting shellacked, never once did I think, ‘what the f*** am I doing here.’ It was like, ‘I belong here.”
