Floyd Mayweather Admits He Fought an Older Version of Manny Pacquiao

Floyd Mayweather had words of praise for his former foe. ‘Money’ Mayweather reacted to Manny Pacquiao retiring from boxing. The Philippine put an end to his boxing career as he plans to run for the presidency in the Philippines. Floyd himself retired from the sport, other than a couple of exhibition matches here and there.
Michael Benson reported Mayweather’s reply to Pacquiao’s retirement. Per Benson, Mayweather said, “Manny Pacquiao – I think that he’s one of the best. We didn’t come together when we wanted to, but we were able to come together and give the fans a helluva fight.”
‘Money’ Mayweather and ‘The Pacman’ fought back in 2015 in what was the former’s 48th professional boxing bout.

Promoters billed the fight as ‘the Fight of the Century or the Battle for Greatness’. Boxing fans waited five years for this fight to take place as several complications delayed the collision. Till today, many boxing fans are still not happy with the fight.

Pacquiao went into the fight with a shoulder injury, leaving many fans and analysts to believe Floyd did not face the best version of Pacquiao. Although Floyd won the fight clearly, Pacquiao showed some sparks of his insane speed and movement during the match. The fight also holds the record for the highest PPVs ever sold.

Pacquiao was not the only former rival ‘Money’ had something to say about. He even shared his views on Canelo Alvarez.
Floyd Mayweather does not accept Canelo as the best pound-for-pound boxer today
Floyd Mayweather spoke about who he thinks should be the number one pound-for-pound fighter in the world. Canelo is currently ranked the number one pound-for-pound fighter. However, Mayweather disagrees with the rankings.
He said, “We can’t talk about the best pound-for-pound when there are many fighters out there,” Mayweather said for Boxing Bob.

“I don’t want to be disrespectful to Canelo, but there are many champions like Gervonta Davis, who has proven to be one of the best there is now and is one of the best pound for pound, as well as Terence Crawford, David Benavidez or Errol Spence. That’s a lot of champions who aren’t getting the credit,” Mayweather said.
