Floyd Mayweather Takes Subtle Dig at Deontay Wilder, Hails Ex-Coach Mark Breland

Former heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder went rough on his long-time trainer Mark Breland after suffering his first-ever career loss against Tyson Fury in February 2020. Despite being beaten badly, Wilder believed he could stand and trade blows. Breland, however, clearly did not think that.
The trainer threw in the towel in round seven to stop the fight. This didn’t sit well with ‘The Bronze Bomber’ as he blamed Mark Breland for the loss and fired him from the team.
However, Floyd Mayweather is all praise for the former world champion turned coach. Despite Wilder’s hatred, fellow American Mayweather sees Mark Breland as a mentor, coach, boxer, and pupil.

‘TBE’ didn’t hesitate to express his emotions publicly. While Breland doesn’t appear to have any major news on board, Mayweather brought him to the headlines with a heart-touching social media post. He posted pictures of Breland and hailed the ex-champions’ greatness in the field of boxing.
Floyd Mayweather wrote, “Please hit the follow button if you want to follow a humble student, teacher, mentor, and coach in the sport of boxing. He has all the credentials and qualifications to support why I recognize him as an elite boxing coach, something that nowadays many unqualified people claim to be.”

Wilder’s exit from Breland’s guidance urged him to join hands with Malik Scott as the new trainer. But it didn’t prove beneficial as he lost to Tyson Fury via an 11 round TKO again on October 9, 2021, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. This validates the question of whether it was right of Wilder to part ways with Mark Breland.
What’s next for Deontay Wilder?
Despite all the efforts, Wilder seems to have lost his spot from the title ride. Therefore, he shall have to prove his worth in a non-championship bout before earning another shot at the gold.

However, Malik Scott appears to have infused several new techniques in Wilder’s game. The Alabaman looked sharp against Tyson Fury and performed well in their latest encounter.
