Curmel Moton is eyeing a comeback to the boxing ring on a stacked card, and the fans have a date for the fight now. The American boxer is on a rapid surge since making his pro debut in September and has an impressive 3-0 record with 2 KOs to his name. So when does he fight next? TalkSports’ Michael Benson turned to his X handle and dropped a timeline of Floyd Mayweather‘s protege’s return. Recently, Moton teased his next fight as he uploaded his training clip hitting the mitts. Now, Benson has revealed that he will fight during the Cinco de Mayo weekend on the undercard of Canelo Alvarez vs. Jaime Munguia.

Benson wrote, “Curmel Moton has indicated that he will return to the ring for his fourth pro fight on the Canelo Alvarez vs Jaime Munguia undercard, May 4th in Las Vegas.”

Notably, the 17-year-old fighter is coming off a win against Anthony Cuba, a fight which stretched to 8 rounds. A first for Cuba as his earlier fights ended in first-round KOs. On the other hand, Motin has signaled his readiness to go the distance. “I can go even 12. I was still ready to go more rounds after eight,” he said during the post-fight interview.

Moreover, a win over Cuba also ensured Moton got a ranking, currently standing at #14 at 130 pounds, with chances for him to go higher if he wins his next fight. His rank surge is attributed to his close association with Mayweather Jr., as the latter spotted him at his gym and later sponsored his fights. Moton is also currently signed with his boxing promotion, and Mayweather Promotions already has a plan for him.

Plans in motion for Curmel Moton to be world champion

Mayweather Promotions CEO, Leonard Ellerbe, has already charted out Moton’s future. Ellerbe wants him to gain more experience and then slot him in a title fight against Leigh Wood. “He’s [Curmel Moton] a tremendous young fighter. We’re expecting major, major things of him moving forward. He’ll be very busy this year. He’ll be a world champion within a year,” Ellerbe said.
