This eventually led to the cancellation of the August 6 showdown in Madison Square Garden, New York. His victory over Rahman Jr. could have opened the gate to several opportunities as the WBC had announced to rank him at cruiserweight.

Now, Paul is left with two options. Either take a shot against fighters who wanted to clash with him even on short notice, or move on to find another opportunity with a genuine opponent in the coming months.
