On that exuberant list, the undisputed super-middleweight war between Canelo Alvarez and Caleb Plant holds a different place altogether. This fight was one of the most entertaining clashes of all time, and no one could have expected anything better in a fight of that magnitude.
The favorite, Canelo, won the fight flawlessly, by securing a T/KO win. However, Plant kept the p4p king on his toes. Also, Gary Russell Jr. believes Plant would have won the fight if he was in a 15-round boxing shape.
In a chat with Brian Custer, he said, “To be honest with you, I like Caleb, too. I like Caleb Plant. I was telling people that if he was in 15 round boxing shape, he was gonna, it was real possible he could have beat Canelo. If he wasn’t by the eight-round, Canelo’s gonna walk his a** down like Jason, and that’s what happened.”
