Gervonta Davis Reveals the ‘Worst Part of Being a Boxing Superstar’

Two-division world champion Gervonta Davis is undoubtedly a big name in the boxing universe. From fame to money, ‘Tank’ has it all. But it has come along with some setbacks, per the WBA 135 lbs titlist. The 26-year-old spoke about the disadvantages that come besides boxing stardom.
Speaking with SHOWTIME Sports, Davis said, “The worst part about being a boxing superstar, I think if you beat one person, they are saying you can’t beat this person. It’s never enough. It’s never enough.”
“I fought Leo [Santa Cruz] in my last fight. They say he was too small, they want to see you broke. They want to see you be beaten.”

Despite all the criticism, Davis has been on a tear in his professional career. He knocked Leo Santa Cruz out cold to claim the WBA (Super) super featherweight title, besides defending his WBA lightweight strap. He is 24-0 now as a professional, with 23 KOs under his name.

Meanwhile, the Baltimore native’s next fight might be a reality check for him. ‘El Azteca’ Barrios, has all the tools to dismantle Davis. While ‘Tank’ remains a favorite for many, the same might not hold inside the ring.

Davis vs Barrios is an evenly matched bout as the 26-year-old pugilists are undefeated world champions in their respective weight classes.
