Speaking to Fight Hub TV on YouTube, Algieri said, “I don’t necessarily believe it was just Loma not doing enough. I think that he was kind of handcuffed by the power and the speed and precision counter-punching by Lopez”.

He added, “Lopez I think, fought a great fight. Picked a great tactic, knew what they had, and just made the fight hard for Loma.”

Speaking about Lomachenko, Algieri said, “Loma was not willing to take the risks that early, that he was taking later on.”

He also spoke about the reported injury before the fight to Lomachenko. He said:

“If you’re willing to step in the ring, You’re stepping in, a hundred percent. If it was that bad, You’d pull out. And if you don’t, it shouldn’t come up”. Thus, suggesting that there should be no excuses for the loss.

Vasyl Lomachenko is not slipping

Algieri also said that Lomachenko is not regressing.

“I don’t think Loma is slipping, even against those guys you mentioned, Luke Campbell and Jorge Linares, I just think he’s in the wrong weight class.
