One fight that everyone has thoughts on is the Jake Paul vs. KSI fight. Will it happen anytime soon? Well, not a lot to report on that. However, just the idea of it has people talking. One of these voices is former UFC champion and MMA legend, Demetrious Johnson.

Jake Paul and KSI have been staunch rivals since the time the latter fought Paul’s older brother, Logan. However, their hostilities have never translated to a fight in the ring. While the British Rapper-influencer-turned-boxer has on multiple occasions expressed his will to fight ‘Problem Child’, the fight has never precipitated into reality. However, in a massive development in December, right before Paul undertook his third fight for the year, he sent an interesting fight deal to KSI, something that Johnson took his picks on.

Demetrious Johnson Picks KSI over Jake Paul

While speaking to Wade Plem of the W.A.D.E Concept, ‘Mighty Mouse’ sided with KSI. Plem presented Johnson with a scenario wherein KSI would clash with Paul in an 8-10 round fight at a weight of 182-185 pounds. He cited that if a fight were to happen between him and Paul, there would be a rehydration clause, something that could faze the 26-year-old American. He noted, “So if I had to go, at 185 or so, I’ll give it to KSI cause he should have the cardio advantage, Jake Paul will have to suck down to 185, typically Jake Paul does kind of like fade at the end of the rounds, he’s not explosive and neither does KSI.”

Jake Paul, in his last victory fight against Andre August, weighed about 199.5 pounds. KSI, on the other hand, in his Tommy Fury fight, which he lost via UD, weighed in at about 182 pounds. For Paul, going down the weight significantly would be detrimental, tiring him in the bout at an early stage, according to the former flyweight champion. For KSI, such circumstances could work well as it is not a massive weight gain that he needs to undergo, he added. “Imma go with KSI coz he doesn’t have to suck weight and go up,” concluded Johnson.

Paul, however, is one to take risks. In a declaration made not long ago, his close aide made it clear that Paul could potentially fall in the weights only if KSI accepted pertinent conditions.

Problem Child will fight at 180, but…

Paul’s business partner, Nakisa Bidarian, took shots at KSI in early December. In an X post on the BAVAFA Sports account, Bidarian accepted a fight at 180 for Paul, but only if the winner of the fight would take the entire purse home.

Further, he also ideated that the purse split could be 50-50, with each fighter taking $25 million home. However, whoever wins, gets the purse split of the loser. He also noted that Paul is ready to fight in the UK, allow KSI to put his name first, and have him walk second on fight night if the fight were to happen at 185. If not at that weight, then the UK is off the charts.

It does look like Jake Paul, and his team are calling the shots over here. While there has been no reply on this offer from KSI’s team, Paul has started preparing for his next fight. He will fight an undisclosed opponent on March 2 at San Juan, on a card that Amanda Serrano will headline.
