A few weeks back, Anthony Joshua and Oleksandr Usyk stepped into the ring together in a rematch. This would be the second chapter in their rivalry after Usyk dethroned Joshua in their first fight, becoming the unified heavyweight champion in the process. Moreover, he would beat AJ for the second time in an exciting split decision victory.

The fight was very close in the first few rounds, with Joshua being able to pressure Usyk into corners and control the pace. However, the fight started getting away from the British boxer in the later rounds. Usyk picked up his pace, keeping Joshua at bay using his southpaw stance and effective use of his lethal jab.

Many even felt like this should have been a unanimous decision victory. After the fight, many former champions and current boxers gave their analysis. This included former WBC champion Deontay Wilder, who revealed the real reason why Joshua lost for the second time.

In an interview with ES News, Wilder stated that AJ performed exactly the way he was expected to. He claimed that, unlike in the first fight, Joshua tried to be cautious and not rush in. However, he was unable to keep this up throughout the 12-rounds, which resulted in him losing the fight. He also praised Usyk, claiming that he was the better boxer.

“Joshua did exactly what we expected him to do, you know what I mean, to be cautious and to run out of gas. He has a serious stamina problem, and we knew that he would be very cautious because of what happened before and as you see, he was very cautious of throwing punches and things like that and the best man won that night,” said Wilder.
Wilder is set to make his return after suffering a loss himself at the hands of Tyson Fury. He will now take on Finnish boxer Robert Helenius on October 15th. This could eventually lead to the fight that most boxing fans have hoped for a long time, Joshua vs Wilder.
