Who wins when a former five-weight champion goes against an influencer-boxer for an exhibition fight? Apparently, no one. Floyd Mayweather and Logan Paul battled each other out on June 6, 2021. Though Paul landed a few punches on the well-seasoned boxer, it was almost half of Mayweather’s. The eight-round exhibition match ended with no winner announced. Disappointed fans underlined that this was just another money match.

What came out of the fight were fat cheques that the two took home. ‘Money’ Mayweather is known for his financial genius, one of the reasons he is still doing exhibitions after retiring. the champion walked away with an impressive $65 million. The two entities, flourishing in their respective fields, did not find hyping the fight to be a herculean task. With the announcement of the fight, predictions had already started, favoring the ‘Pretty Boy’ naturally. The duo who have built separate bases of fans, brought them all together for this bout. Mayweather, who also was a promoter for the fight through Mayweather promotions, had 50% of the PPV to his name on top of the $10 million base wage. He promised Paul a 10% from the PPV on a base wage of $250,000.

Speaking to TMZ in an interview, Paul revealed that he expected to earn a sum of $20 million. Doing the math, the older Paul brother earned an estimated $10 million from the exhibition including PPV shares, promotions and show fees. Did Paul do the wrong calculations?

Logan Paul and Floyd Mayweather unpaid fight purse controversy

Appearing on Andrew Schulz‘s podcast, Logan Paul revealed he had not been paid entirely for his participation in the match. He is yet to be handed somewhere between $5 million to $2 million. This is just a part of it. According to Paul, Mayweather did some under-the-table deals and knowing how to pay the money chess, he controlled how much flowed into Paul’s pocket.

Mayweather, however, claims that it takes a while to count the profits from PPV earnings. Since he helped Paul bag a fat amount, instead of launching an attack, Paul should be grateful according to Mayweather. Paul has on multiple occasions threatened to take the matter to court.
