Former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder is ready for a new chapter in his boxing career. The Alabama native will face off against Finnish boxer Robert Helenius on October 15 after a year-long layoff. Wilder hasn’t stepped into the ring since his loss against Tyson Fury in the final chapter of their thrilling trilogy.

Wilder and Fury have always been longstanding rivals. However, their rivalry escalated to new heights after Wilder made several accusations of cheating on Fury in their second fight. One of these accusations was that Fury allegedly tampered with his gloves before their second bout, giving him an advantage.

Moreover, it seems like Wilder still believes that Fury won the second fight unfairly. In an interview with FightHype.com, The Bronze Bomber was asked if he has finally buried the hatchet with Fury after his friendly behavior with another former opponent, Luis Ortiz. Wilder stated that he still holds Fury accountable for his loss in the second fight and believed that he cheated.

He also addressed the criticism of his accusations against Fury and took issue with the people who claimed he should have gone to the authorities. He claimed that as a fighter an opportunity to beat Fury was too tempting to give up, as Fury would have been sent to prison if he was found cheating.

Ok, go to the authorities and they lock him up, then what’s next? That’s it.” said Wilder.

Moreover, he added that this did not make any sense to him, and doing something like this would only come up in the mind of a ‘nice’ person.”That don’t make no sense. That sounds like somebody is non-confrontational, that in combat sports because their mindset is not set on combat, it’s set on being nice or…that theory don’t even make sense to me.” He added.

Although Wilder does make some valid points, another reason that Wilder didn’t go ahead with this could also have been that he does not have any proof of The Gypsy King tampering with his gloves. However, this bad blood could cause a fourth fight between the two behemoths and a treat for fight fans.
