Anthony Joshua has got himself a lot of prospects open after his comeback victory against Jermaine Franklin. At first, on Saturday he was scheduled to go against his former rival, Dillian Whyte, in a rematch. This bout would have marked a comeback of sorts, as they both had faced a tremendous downfall in their career. Also, both of them redeemed themselves against the same opponent in their last bout. But, due to the recent drug test failure, Whyte had to back down and in his place, Robert Helenius has been assigned to fight ‘AJ’.
This August fight for Joshua was a checkpoint to move forward toward the Heavyweight super fight that has been prolonged for almost six years already. But it seems like the British Heavyweight boxer has already set plans to fight Deontay Wilder at the beginning of 2024 in Saudi Arabia. And recently, Wilder’s trainer has revealed the details about this potential contest. He also gave his opinions on his current challenge, Helenius.

In a recent interview with Sky Sports News, Malik Scott, Deontay Wilder’s trainer, had a conversation about the prospects of his pugilist going against Anthony Joshua. He clearly said, “I think they both should be in the ring with each other regardless.” He stated that it isn’t even about who is going perform better, it’s just that these two titans need to face each other and provide the world with an answer.
Moreover, he also stated that he wouldn’t want to see another Riddick Bowe and Lennox Lewis scenario, where both amazing fighters never faced each other. He said, “It would be a true tragedy if we get the Riddick Bowe-Lennox Lewis effect with Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua.”

Interestingly, Helenius had already fought last weekend against Mika Mielonen, but he still agreed to the Joshua fight despite the short notice. The WBA Gold World Heavyweight champion has also been put down by Scott’s boxer, Deontay Wilder, by a first-round Knockout. So, undoubtedly, Scott can be a great analyst for this fight that will go down in just a few hours.
Scott said, “Helenius can fight, I love him. He has a great style, he’s long, his chin is always behind his front knee besides the time he fought us and he paid.” So he mentioned that if Helenius had learned anything from the mistakes he made against Wilder, there’s a good chance that AJ will be facing a different Helenius than what’s been seen before.
