Deontay Wilder against Anthony Joshua was a dream fight for many boxing fans. Watching two titans go at it against each other will excite even the most uninterested people. But it seems that all hopes are down the drain because of Wilder’s recent performance against Joseph Parker in ‘The Day of Reckoning’. While Joshua shined through and won his battle against Otto Wallin, the same cannot be said for ‘The Bronze Bomber’.

Wilder suffered his third career loss to the Kiwi through a unanimous decision. The results were clear: Parker dominated Wilder in the ring. It was almost sad to see someone as legendary as Wilder go down in the ring. Now, what was supposed to be ‘the biggest fight ever’ between Wilder and Joshua has turned to dust, according to famous promoter Eddie Hearn.

Eddie Hearn calls Deontay Wilder vs. Anthony Joshua a ‘dead fight’

On IFL TV, Hearn spoke about the Joshua vs. Wilder fight. Eddie remarked, “The fight’s dead for now,” claiming it has no traction anymore. Hearn went on to say how the people who wanted to put the fight on no longer see the same opportunity as they had before. He says that the numbers do not work in favor of the fight anymore.

He also mentions the reason for the unfavorable numbers, saying, “The numbers don’t work now because Wilder’s a busted flush, at the moment,” taking a dig at Wilder’s loss. According to Hearn, Wilder’s loss against Parker closed the doors for him for his big fight against Joshua. He even went as far as to call it a ‘mismatch’. Hearn flushed all hopes for the anticipated fight between Joshua and Wilder. Now, unless Wilder pulls a massive win in his next fight, things look a bit rough for him.
