Jake Paul Compares Ben Askren Bout With Floyd Mayweather’s Third Pro Fight: ‘He Got Paid $7000’

Jake Paul has never hesitated to compare himself with elite professional fighters and despite being 2-0 in the sport, he has already taken shots at several World Champion caliber boxers.
He is scheduled to meet former UFC star Ben Askren in an 8 round cruiserweight battle on April 17th in what is seemingly a highly lucrative headliner.
That said, he no longer classifies himself as a YouTube boxer. Although he began life as a social media superstar, the 24-year-old is a self proclaimed elite boxer now. Ahead of his fight with Askren, he connected with SkySports and opened up about his career.

“I see myself as an elite fighter right now. A young prospect with a lot of motivation, a lot of hunger and I think people see me as [an] amateur,” said Jake Paul.

Moreover, he has further compared his nearing bout with Askren to Floyd Mayweather’s third professional fight to boast of his superiority. A young ‘Pretty Boy’ Floyd Mayweather fought Jerry Cooper in a 6-round featherweight clash in 1997 at Vegas.
Although Mayweather recorded the win with a sensational knockout in the 1st round, Paul still found a reason to belittle the event.
Putting forth a comparison, ‘The Problem Child’ said, “I’m in my third pro fight, I’m fighting 8 rounds, headlining one of the biggest pay-per-views that could happen this decade.”
He added, “If you look at Floyd Mayweather, his third fight was 6 rounds, he got paid $7,000 and I don’t think anyone in this room probably watched it.”
Meanwhile, ‘The Problem Child’ might face Mayweather and bring the comparison into the ring. There are several talks ongoing about Mayweather’s return, and Paul could very well benefit from that.
