“Gold Blooded” Hasim Rahman Jr.’s name gained prominence when news about him facing Jake Paul cropped up. Paul’s fight against Tyson Fury’s stepbrother Tommy Fury caved in as the US authorities denied the latter permission to enter the country. Hasim Rahman Jr. took his place. But fate had other plans. As it turned out, Jake Paul canceled the fight. Reportedly, Rahman Jr., a heavyweight, couldn’t meet the agreed weight standards to fight at a cruiserweight level.

Son of former world champion Hasim Rahman, Hasim Rahman Jr. fought twice last year and lost in both. His first loss of the year came on April 29 against another former champion, Tommy Morrison’s son Kenzie Morrison. Six months later, he lost the next bout to former football player Greg Hardy at Austin’s Moody Centre on November 19. His professional record stands at twelve wins against two losses.

The year of crossover-fights

The months post-fight-cancellation saw both parties cruising not-so-divergent paths. While Paul fought former UFC champion Anderson Silva on October 29, Rahman Jr. had his share of a crossover fight against Hardy.

Incidentally, in September last year, he joined the promotional venture, Happy Punch Promotions, launched by the Youtuber duo Keemstar and Fousey.

“Gold Blooded” is quite active on social media. On Twitter, more than 37 k follow him.

Apparently, a few hours ago today, he shared a list of fights that most fans might covet.

Soon he received a response, “Imagine it’s you and Jake Paul in a ring? What’s gonna be the result of the fight @_HasimRahmanJr.”

Another user joined in, “You vs. logan is proper fireworks tbh, hope it happens someday!”

Rahman Jr. responded, “bought to you exclusively by @PrimeHydrate & @MisfitsBoxing.”

What’s this? An invitation for Jake Paul?

The line of chat continued in the ensuing hours. Soon former marine and now boxer Paul Bamba joined. Rahman Jr. suggested another social influencer, Malcolm Minikon, aka iMinikon’s name, against Halal Ham. Bamba tagged the social influencer turned boxer, asking, “…can you handle the pressure.”

So Rahman Jr. replied that he would have suggested Bamba’s name against Tommy Fury; however, given how their Dubai fight tumbled, he deferred it.

When Bamba said that “Gold Blooded,” would ensure the same, the latter responded, “Only if I get to slap the sh*t out @JakePaul.”

Interestingly, Jake Paul ventured into mixed martial arts by signing up with the Professional Fighters League (PFL) at the beginning of the year. Whereas bête noire UFC boss, Dana White, launched a professional slap-fighting league in Nevada.
