Amanda Serrano and Nina Meinke will not be fighting tonight. News has been filtering in that the Puerto Rican Boxing Commission has declared the featherweight champion medically unfit to step into the ring for the unified title defense at El Coliseo de Puerto Rico.

The reason, per an official statement released by Most Valuable Promotion, appears to be an eye injury that she reportedly received yesterday. Additionally, the organizers mentioned refunding all those who came up with requests. Nina Meinke, on the other hand, will be paid the full fight purse. Both MVP and Amanda Serrano offered their apologies to everyone for all the inconvenience caused.

According to the MVP’s official release, her opponent, Nina Meinke, will receive the full amount due to her. Likewise, provisions were in place for ticket refunds for attendees. “This decision equally affects Nina Meinke, and MVP will be paying her fight purse in full. MVP and Amanda would like to apologize to everyone in attendance, and the company will provide full refunds for all those seeking it,” the communication stated.

Standing strongly by his charge’s side, Jake Paul shared that it happened ’36 hours ago’. He said, “Listen, listen, I know there’s…there’s people booing, but Amanda came to fight. Put in a hard camp, the doctors wouldn’t let her move forward because of her eye; her cornea was exposed, and she was failing some eye tests….She did everything to make it happen, and this happened super, super last-minute. We did everything in our power to keep the fight happening. But the doctors wouldn’t allow it…You can’t risk losing your eyesight forever just for a fight. And I know she’s a warrior.
