‘The Gorilla’ seems to have the right antidote this time. He believes he has the right mix that will finally jinx the unbeaten train of Jaime Munguia. John Ryder will meet the Mexican super middleweight on January 27 in Phoenix, Arizona’s Footprint Center. The Londoner makes an appearance following the loss to Canelo Alvarez.
Munguia, on the other hand, rides on the back of his tough win over Sergiy Derevyanchenko. He defeated the Ukrainian to become the WBC silver super middleweight title holder. Both camps seem to be leaving no stone unturned to ensure victory. Standing six feet, the Mexican boxer comes off as much bigger between the two. More so, given his predisposition towards early stoppages, a narrative of sorts seems to have converged over the fight. However, while speaking with Fight Hub TV‘s Marcos Villegas, John Ryder seemed the least perturbed. He appears to have a plan of action in hand.

Then the Fight Hub founder also wanted to know whether he envisaged steps to keep the Mexican champion at bay. That would help deflect any close-drawn-out slugfest. “Or is it something where you kind of want to push him back and you feel like I have to push him back to kind of avoid that situation the the toe-to-toe type situations,” added Villegas.
John Ryder revealed that it’s not a one-size-fits-all approach they have in hand. The strategy probably comprises a blend of tactics. So, for instance, while inside the ring, he might try to lure Munguia in and then drive him back. This method might knock him out of place and perhaps make him more susceptible to making mistakes. ‘The Gorilla’ said, “Yeah, I think we got to mix it up. I think he’s a a big puncher. I think we got to get in there and and bring him in, and push him back. Uh, make him feel uncomfortable.”

As many followers would be aware, Jaime Munguia has been honing his skills under the legendary trainer Freddie Roach. So John Ryder also expressed a desire to check out what new the Mexican boxer has picked from the Hall of Fame coach, or would he stick to old, time-tested methods when they meet on Saturday night? “But be interesting to see that the the tactics he takes now training with Freddy um and if he’s if he’s changed up at all,” Ryder said.
A win over Jaime Munguia would undoubtedly raise John Ryder’s stock. While speaking with Villegas, the Englishman revealed how he longed for a rematch with Canelo Alvarez. He said, “I want to go out at the top, and, uh, I want to get my rematch with Canelo.” When asked for his chances, he shared that the last attempt taught him a lot about himself, and he learned enough to understand that if he could lay his hands on a rematch, then he might turn the table on the undisputed champion.
