The former professional boxer Ray Mercer, who clinched the gold medal in the Olympics, did not believe that the former WBC heavyweight titlist Deontay Wilder has good boxing skills. The 61-year-old suggested Wilder should focus on how to box ahead of his return.

While speaking to FightHype.com, Mercer got bold as soon as he heard Wilder’s name. The reporter asked Mercer to react to Wilder’s comeback after the latter’s knockout loss the previous year.
To which Mercer replied, “no would it be hard to come back is you gotta learn how to f**king box before you come back.”
Certainly, it’s a big remark from Mercer’s end. He directly questioned the skills of a boxer that has been the torchbearer of American heavyweight in the last decade. The 36-year-old is among the most devastating puncher that ever laced gloves. He made record 10 defenses of his WBC heavyweight title before losing his first contest.

So before putting the Olympic Bronze medalist under the pressure of a previous knockout loss, the boxing world should realize that Wilder has enough to rock in his comeback fight.

When will Deontay Wilder make his comeback?
According to BoxingScene, Wilder will start his quest for the world title again on October 15. He is set to face Robert Helenius at Barclays Center in Brooklyn live on a FOX Sports Pay-Per-View.
