Former world heavyweight champion Mike Tyson once famously broke comedian Steve-O’s nose on live TV. However, the entire story has a rather interesting backstory. The Jackass star once revealed that the duo decided on the stunt while in a psychiatric ward.

Steve-O was onstage performing his ‘Gnarly’ comic special. Notably, the comedian had spent a considerable amount of time in psychiatric wards to help with his addiction to banned substances. He gave an insight into his experience of meeting Tyson, during one of his visits. Steve-O said, “I’m in looney bin number two and guess who showed up as a patient? It was Mike Tyson. And I know it’s f*cked up to say that right. But he doesn’t mind a bit.”

He further mentioned, “The fact is I was locked up in a psychiatric ward with the former heavyweight boxing champion of the world. Who I had done a bunch of dr*gs with back in the day.”

In fact, he added that he was not at all shocked to see Tyson in the hospital.

Steve-O decides on a stunt with Mike Tyson

Steve-O mentioned that he was elated to see Tyson at the ward. Moreover, he also added that he always wanted to perform a stunt with Tyson. The Jackass star also mentioned that he tried pitching the idea to him during their time in the ward. He said, “Mike, all I want you to do is hold your fist out. And let me run into it with my face.”

Notably, Steve-O was trying to recreate a stunt named ‘the Black Eye game’, which he was proficient in. But trying it with one of the hardest punchers in boxing was a different level altogether. However, Steve-O mentioned that Tyson kept refusing, as he was scared of hurting him.

It is worth adding that Steve-O was successful with his pitch, and the duo ended up performing the stunt live on the Charlie Sheen roast.
