The return of Canelo Alvarez against WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol is all set to headline a Matchroom event on May 7 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Prior to finalizing the fight, Mexican P4P king Alvarez had various options available beforehand. However, he opted to take a trip back to the 175 lbs after successfully conquering the 168 lbs division as its maiden undisputed champion.

Having beaten three undefeated champions and a mandatory contender from December 2020- to November 2021, Alvarez will meet another undefeated champion in Bivol next. However, that’s not the only eye-grabbing factor for the DAZN PPV.

According to reports, a heavyweight showdown between Zhang Zhilei and Filip Hrgovic will also feature in the card. The undefeated heavyweight giants will collide to determine the IBF title’s mandatory challenger. That said, one of them can challenge Oleksandr Usyk in the future.

This massive addition gives the boxing fans another reason to keep an eye on Alvarez vs Bivol. Both Zhang and Hrgovic are on an unprecedented run and deserve a crack at the title soon. That said, they need to pick one another out of their respective ways. As both men will possibly feature as a co-main event of the night, one of their undefeated records will blow off.

Adding to that, both men are top-level knockout artists. China’s ‘Big Bang’ Zhang has 18 KOs in an active record of 23-0-1, while Croatian boxer Hrgovic has 12 KOs on a 14-0 record. This levels them up for an interesting fight as they share a similar 6’6” height. However, a southpaw, Zhang, can stylistically trouble an orthodox in Hrgovic.
