It’s common knowledge that Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe is not a fan of Matchroom CEO Eddie Hearn. Along with the two being in direct competition with each other, the two also have a personal rivalry with both calling each other out on several occasions.

Moreover, Ellerbe was also quick to jump in on the recent drama surrounding Chris Eubank Jr. vs Conor Benn. Benn, who is promoted by Hearn, failed a VADA drug test before the fight, which led to the bout being called off. Benn was found with trace amounts of clomifene in his body, which is a banned substance. This was announced by the British Boxing Board of Control or BBBoC, which insisted they would not sanction the fight.
However, Hearn vowed to pursue every avenue to ensure the bout went ahead and added that he would not book the bout under any sanctioning body. Despite this, a video of Hearn’s claims being contradicted by Eubanks Jr.’s promoter, Kalle Sauerland, came to light. In an interview, Sauerland claimed that there were talks of the bout being booked under a different sanctioning body. This was pointed out by Ellerbe as he took to Twitter and laughed at this ‘WTF’ moment.

The situation is becoming more complex as the days go on with Benn’s VADA sample now being tested by the United Kingdom Anti-Doping agency or UKAD. If he is found violating any rule, Benn could face a ban of up to 4 years.
Leonard Ellerbe rips into Eddie Hearn for booking Canelo Alvarez vs Gennady Golovkin 3
Ellerbe is a firm believer that the old PPV model of showcasing fights is about to become obsolete. Moreover, he wasn’t shy of reminding to Hearn as he took shots at the British promoter for organizing Canelo Alvarez vs Gennady Golovkin 3. In an interview, he stated that Hearn was exaggerating the success of the event which drastically underperformed. “It’s lies, lies. Mad because he overpaid, and the PPV underperformed drastically. He can’t run that other bull**** to any of us. Remember, this is the same guy that spent millions and millions of dollars on a campaign to push “PPV is Dead.” he said

The two giants of boxing have always been at odds with each other. Therefore, it shouldn’t be surprising that Ellerbe took shots at Hearn. However, there might be some truth to his claims, as it is visible that the PPV model is declining with the rise of streaming services.
