Oleksandr Usyk Comments on Deontay Wilder’s Allegations – ‘The Defeat Was Fair’

The Ukrainian heavyweight sensation, Oleksandr Usyk, took a jibe at the former heavyweight champion, Deontay Wilder. In February this year, the ‘Bronze Bomber’ got brutally dethroned from his WBC heavyweight gold by Tyson Fury. Post the loss, he reasoned that his walkout costume was heavy and that the water was spiked.
Wilder received heavy backlash for putting out silly reasons for his loss.
Putting some spotlight on the above juncture, Usyk took shots at Wilder for his allegations on the Tyson Fury loss.

While he was in a conversation with SunSport, he said, “I wouldn’t want to comment on his allegations, but I do think the defeat was fair. Tyson Fury was the better boxer at the time.”
Wilder couldn’t win a single second of that fight. He got knocked down multiple times and finally succumbed to a TKO loss to the Brit.
The ‘Bronze Bomber’ is renowned for landing his dynamite right hands to put his opponents to sleep. But in this rematch, he hardly landed a colossal blow on Fury.
The Ukrainian boxer even expressed his curiosity to take on ‘Bronze Bomber’ next.
“There are a lot of guys who I would like to fight and would be happy to fight, like Deontay Wilder,” said Usyk. Not just Wilder, but Usyk has his eyes set on an Anthony Joshua fight in the UK.
Should Oleksandr Usyk take on Deontay Wilder?
Since that devastating loss to Fury, Wilder is keen on booking a trilogy fight. But it is speculated that the ‘Gypsy King’ will face Anthony Joshua by 2021 for heavyweight title unification. Because of this, Bronze Bomber’s trilogy fight seems far-fetched.
At the current stage of his prolonged boxing career, Oleksandr Usyk can be an ideal opponent for Wilder.

Usyk last stepped inside the boxing ring on October 31st this year. He bagged a unanimous decision victory over Dereck Chisora.
He maintains an undefeated streak in boxing with a majestic 18-0 record. Though he doesn’t possess the knockout power similar to Wilder, he can be a definite threat to the former champion.

This will be a great matchup overall as Usyk will look forward to climbing up the heavyweight stairs. On the flip side, Wilder will look to add another KO win to his resume.
