Oleksandr Usyk cemented his legacy among the heavyweight greats after his victory over Anthony Joshua. The unified heavyweight champion beat AJ for the second time, leaving no doubt that he is the better boxer. However, there is still one boxer that he needs to beat and that is the WBC heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury.

In the post-fight interview after his victory, Usyk called The Gypsy King out to a match. This was not all, as Fury fired back at the unified champ and claimed that he could beat both Joshua and Usyk in the same night. The agreement between both men led to the fight being scheduled for December of this year. However, Usyk recently expressed he won’t be able to fight Fury in December.

Usyk opens the possibility of a fight against Wilder
The Ukrainian has now opened the doors for a fight against Fury’s long-time rival Deontay Wilder. He claimed he would be interested in fighting either Fury or Wilder, but no one else. “We’ll see. I don’t want to make empty statements. I could still box with Fury or with Wilder, but that’s where my interest ends.” He said.

This kind of thing is not uncommon in boxing. The politics involved in the sport have led to many fights being called off, with the perfect example being Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua. Following his victory over Wilder in their second fight, it was announced that a super fight against Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury had been finalized. However, because of contractual obligations, Fury had to face Wilder for the third time in the United States.

Tyson Fury calls out Oleksandr Usyk
Following this, Fury took to social media and responded to Usyk calling him a “middleweight”. In a video message, Fury claimed that he would destroy the Ukrainian and accused him of hiding. “Middleweight, you will get smashed to bits. You said you wanted to fight me after you beat the bodybuilder, called me out on television and now you’re being a little b**** p**** boy running, hiding, saying you’ve got injuries. “said Fury.
