The way Devin ‘The Dream’ Haney is stacking his wins right now, it is not a surprise that he wants to take on the big fights. Haney, currently fighting under Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom, beat Regis Prograis to secure the WBC super lightweight title. Prograis was Haney’s first opponent in the 140lb class. Now as his record shines more and more, the undefeated fighter out of Las Vegas is looking to fight Ryan Garcia.

Garcia just finished off Oscar Duarte after his first career loss against Gervonta Davis. As ‘King Ry’ looks to rebuild his winning streak, Devin Haney could be a good bout to add to his record. After failed callouts, even Devin Haney’s father, Bill Haney, seems to have moved away from a Gervonta Davis fight to a fight with Garcia. Meanwhile, Garcia’s promoters have confirmed talks for a fight in 2024. The speculations made by fans might just have come true, from what Oscar De La Hoya recently tweeted.

De La Hoya has been trying to make the match between the two stars happen ever since Haney beat Prograis. He believes that this bout will pull record-breaking PPVs. In a recent tweet, he called Haney “The best 140 pounder in the world” in what might seem like an attempt to provoke Garcia, wishing him Happy Holidays. De La Hoya proceeded to mention King Ry by  saying, “Let’s break PPV records. Ryan Garcia.”

The bigger name between the two is clearly Garcia, having already made history in his fight with Davis. Considering that his name pulls the PPVs, it is unlikely for him to give up too much leeway for a fight with Haney. However, negotiations are underway since Bill Haney confirmed it in an Instagram live session. In the same session, he also took some time to take sly digs at Gervonta Davis for rejecting their fight offer.

Gervonta Davis’ decision to sidestep a $20 million offer for a showdown with Devin Haney continues to resonate in the boxing community. Whether this was a strategic move or blatant rejection remains to be seen. But, surely there lies many more layers to this dream fight than just money. Bill Haney had expressed his anger at Davis’ decision.

In the clip later shared by Fight Hub TV, Haney Sr. said, ” I think I’ve been everywhere talking about it.
