29-year-old Rolly, turned pro in 2016 winning his debut in a first-round technical knockout. Since then, almost 8 years into the sport, he’s built an impressive record of 15-1, with 13 of his victories coming from knockouts. His career’s only loss to date came in May 2022, when he lost to Gervonta Davis aka ‘Tank’ in a 6th-round technical knockout. While he was slated to fight Ryan Garcia in April, the negotiations went awry, thus ushering in Romero vs. Cruz.

25-year-old Cruz has had a similar fight graph to Romero. ‘Pitbull’, with a 28-2-1 record, undertook his first pro fight in 2015, winning it in the first round via knockout. In his illustrious record of 28 fights over the 9 years, he’s registered 25 wins, 17 through knockouts. However, in 2016, a year into his pro career, he was dealt his first loss against Luis Montano Alvarez (2016). In 2017, his Jose Calyecac Capilla, matchup was called a draw. Furthermore, like Rolly, he also suffered a loss at the hands of Tank Davis in 2021, however, in his case, through a unanimous decision.
