Roman ‘Chocolatito’ Gonzalez’s Return Set for March 5th – Juan Estrada Won’t Be the Opponent

Roman Gonzalez was in contention to align himself against rival Juan Estrada for their third boxing meet. However, this fight seems under dark clouds for now, and there are almost zero chances of this contest coming to life. A few days back, their trilogy was expected to materialize on March 5, but Estrada won’t be on the line for this bout.
Instead, ‘Chocolatito’ will take on a different opponent on this date. But who will Gonzalez fight?
The ex-champ will line himself up for a fight with WBC flyweight champion, Julio Cesar Martinez, on March 5. Also, this bout will happen in the super-flyweight landscape only.

‘Chocolatito’ was initially on the line to settle his scores with Estrada, the WBA super-flyweight ‘super’ champ. The two men fought twice against each other, winning one fight each. That said, the rematch between the two in 2021 was an action-packed war, wherein both the men displayed their prolific skill sets.
Gonzalez and Estrada took the fight to the distance, and they refrained from giving up. Employing their best punches, the pair entered a wild scuffle, keeping fans at the edge of their seats. After a 12-round war, the judges ruled the fight in the underdog, Estrada’s favor with a SD.
Since then, ‘Chocolatito’ didn’t fight once, and he only waited for the Estrada trilogy. But, with the prevailing scenario, he’ll have to go ahead to lock horns with Julio Cesar Martinez.

Gonzalez and Estrada’s third meet is inevitable. This fight would have happened on March 5 itself. However, Estrada couldn’t give his best in training camp, possibly due to post Covid-19 issues.
Regardless of that, there’s every chance of this fight happening in the second half of 2022.
