It wouldn’t be the first time Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney would find themself facing each other on April 20. The career rivals have fought each other a total of six times over the course of their boxing careers, albeit in the amateurs. However, as the duo gears up for their seventh rendezvous, Devin Haney has accused ‘King Ry’ of not improving his game since amateur.

Their previous six fights have produced three wins for both parties, making their upcoming fight a climax to their career rivalry. However, things are not the same. Besides time, both fighters have climbed through the boxing ladder to be where they are today, albeit Haney is a bit above Garcia. However, ‘The Dream’ Haney thinks ‘King Ry’ hasn’t changed a bit, as he described the same during the Face-Off interview with DAZN Boxing today.

When the host asked Haney whether Garcia would pose a challenge to him, Devin confidently responded, “I don’t think that Ryan has got much better since the amateurs.” He went on to suggest that Garcia’s fighting style and the things he does in the ring are all the same. Garcia “got bigger and stronger, but it’s the same thing,” said Haney.

However, when the same question was posed to the Victorville native, he had a different idea. Garcia told the host, “We’ll just have to see in the ring. I can’t really say [whether] it’s going to be hard or easy.” Garcia claims he had previously thought his opponent would be hard to defeat, but it turned out to be easy and vice versa.

On March 23, Garcia appeared in the Full Send Podcast, where he was asked what he would do if he lost to Devin Haney. In response, Garcia claimed he would start a music career. “Say if I lose, hypothetically, I don’t know what I’m going to do. I mean, I’m getting signed into Universal Records… They’re signing me,” Garcia said.

He further added that he is really good at music. So, “I could play the guitar, I could play the piano, I could sing, I could rap. I could do it all. Just people don’t know that,” said Garcia. According to the 25-year-old boxer, he has always been able to do whatever he set his mind on, but he never revealed it to the public because most people just want to see him fight.
