Canelo Alvarez vs Billy Joe Saunders Scorecards Reveal the Reality of the Fight

Canelo Alvarez was fortunate to have stopped Billy Joe Saunders in round eight of their 12-rounds headliner for the WBO, WBC, WBA, and Ring super middleweight titles. But it wasn’t a walk in the park for the P4P king.
Alvarez had to push his limits and seemingly had a tough fight against a southpaw elite in Billy Joe Saunders. WBO champion (then) Saunders unleashed his best side and troubled Alvarez for a brief period. He even advanced himself on the judges’ boards, turning it into a hard fight for the Mexican superstar.
Meanwhile, Canelo Alvarez kept his composure and didn’t rush into exchanges. Despite suffering some serious adversary, he stuck to the game plan and successfully planted the bigger shots in round eight. However, the fight could have seen a different outcome, if it had gone to the judges’ scorecards.

Both men appeared sharp at the AT&T stadium. While Saunders is no longer the champion, he can still aim for another run. ‘Superb’, who has earned a lot of appraisals from the boxing fans tonight, can return to action shortly after the scratchy loss.
Meanwhile, Canelo Alvarez will seemingly opt for another unification battle in the coming days. All he needs to become undisputed is ‘Sweethands’ IBF belt. Hence, a showdown against Caleb Plant might be next for him.
