Oleksandr Usyk proved that he is one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world after his victory over Anthony Joshua. The unified heavyweight champion displayed his superior skills against the British phenom, securing a split decision victory and leaving no doubt about who was the better boxer among the two.

However, Usyk seems to be back serving his country, returning to Ukraine just nine days after beating Joshua. Usyk’s manager Egis Klimas recently revealed this in an interview with TalkSport. He stated that the heavyweight champ is fighting on the ‘frontlines’ and cheering up soldiers. “At the moment as we speak [Usyk] is in Ukraine on the frontlines. Of course, not with a gun, but he is cheering up the soldiers. He is there and he is supporting his country.” said Klimas

Moreover, he even revealed what motivated Usyk to get into the ring with Joshua. ‘The Cat’ was serving in the military prior to the rematch after he joined the local territorial defense force in Kyiv. However, he became motivated to fight AJ for the second time after he saw soldiers laying their lives on the battlefield inspiring him to return.

Tyson Fury threatens Oleksandr Usyk

WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury was seemingly not happy after he was called out by Usyk for ducking. The Gypsy King then went on a rant threatening the unified heavyweight champion. “Usyk, you little s***house, you little s***bag. Talking s***e, I’m afraid of you? I’ll put my fist right through the side of you, you little sausage.”  said Fury.

It looks like the Fury and Usyk might just end up in the ring sooner or later. However, it won’t be until 2023, as Usyk revealed he would go back to Ukraine during a time of conflict.
